Credit Risk Manager – Commercial Real Estate

Due to their sustained growth they now have a new opportunity for a Credit Risk Manager to join the Credit Risk team.

This is a great opportunity to join a stable, growing Building Society with a strong customer focus & help them reach their growth targets. The successful candidate will have experience in Credit Risk relating to Commercial Real Estate/Commercial Mortgages and Retail lending.

The role will carry flexibility and the ability to take on a wide range of responsibilities.The successful candidate will have a ‘hands on’ approach and will be resourceful, used to supporting colleagues and working as part of a team, and will have a desire to have a positive impact on the role & the team.

As the Credit Risk Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop credit risk changes and support the delivery of wider business change with credit risk impacts to ensure an appropriate balance between risk prevention and the objectives of the Commercial and Customer Divisions
  • Develop credit risk related policies and standards that ensure all regulatory compliance and governance commitments are met
  • Deliver credit risk analytics, modelling and MI that drive tangible commercial and customer advantages for the Group and prevents exposure to unplanned credit losses
  • Lead a pool of credit risk analytical resource, assigning workloads to ensure appropriately skilled resource is available to support credit risk initiatives within the wider team

Accountabilities of the Credit Risk Manager:

  • Translate & implement Divisional plans and deliverables to deliver overall Group strategic priorities
  • Develop the capability and capacity of team and/or service resources to drive sustained commercial success
  • Communicate the team and/or service delivery priorities, motivating and developing others to be high performing
  • Own team and/or service delivery priorities, applying specialist expertise to put the customer at the heart of everything and drive a profitable business
  • Develop and maintain key external and internal relationships which create value, collaborating to deliver commercial and customer priorities
  • Uphold corporate legal & regulatory responsibilities
  • Manage transformation and change activity & harness innovation to create a high performing & sustainable business

Knowledge & Experience required for the Credit Risk Manager role:

  • Subject Matter Expert in credit risk management & mitigation covering secured Retail and Commercial Lending policies, practices and processes
  • A minimum of two years’ experience of managing credit risk management priorities to deliver planned outcomes
  • Evidence of professional learning and development to build and maintain skills and expertise
  • Ability to convert strategic priorities and goals into operational plans
  • Ability to work with autonomy and make operational decisions
  • Ability to manage resources
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, compliance, corporate governance, quality assurance and risk management
  • Knowledge of business planning processes
  • Understanding of related functions and/or services outside of the role’s direct remit
  • Experience of managing a set of internal and external stakeholder relationships
