Some careers prize diversity more than others.

If you’re looking for a career where you will be respected as an individual and valued for the contributions you make, join HSBC and discover how diversity drives our success. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Human Resources leads the implementation of the Group’s people strategy in line with business objectives. It facilitates talent management, succession planning and employee mobility while defining and overseeing frameworks that support employee performance management, reward, learning and development, resourcing and engagement.

We are currently seeking an ambitious individual to join our Human Resources team, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets.

In this role, you will:

  • lead on data science diversity consulting projects (with a core focus on gender, ethnicity, LGBT+ and disability). This will involve working with senior stakeholders such as the Head of Employee Relations and the Head of Inclusion to form hypotheses, design robust quantitative tests (which may leverage existing data-sets or require the creation of new ones), and shape the findings into an easily communicable format which can be consumed by a non-technical audience.
  • Be accountable for delivering these projects and this will involve both the delegation of activity elsewhere in the data science team, as well as the direct use of statistical, financial and judgement based models by means of descriptive, predictive and prescriptive analytics.
  • Uncovering deeper insights from the employee life-cycle and experience of diverse employees – through industrialising data science capability within HR using techniques such as cause and effect, regression analysis, cluster analysis, exploratory study and other multivariate modelling.
  • Focus on identifying and actioning opportunities to enhance D&I insights to help improve the evidence base for D&I activity across the bank.

To be successful in the role, you should meet the following requirements:

  • Have a strong background in research, or experience in reading and interpreting academic or industry research.
  • Have experience with Python or R
  • Have excellent understanding of data and databases and in interrogating and interpreting data
  • Have knowledge of contemporary visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) and techniques
  • Have experience navigating a network of stakeholders and practitioners to consult on business problems and return relevant insights and advice
  • Have excellent written communication and presentation skills to a wide range of internal and external audiences, including executive level, with ability to summarise technical concepts to a non-technical or generalist audience.
