Head Of Financial Risk

Wembley Central, Middlesex

Job Description
My client is a UK based challenger bank that offers range of savings products for retail customers and finance products for individuals and businesses.

They have created a new role for a Head of Financial Risk, reporting into the CRO and with overall responsibility for managing all the prudential and financial risks of the bank. This person will be a member of the management risk committee, the credit risk committee and the ALCO as well as regularly attending Board Risk Committee meetings.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding and hands on experience of solvency risk, capital management policy (have held the pen on an ICAAP), RRP and is able to challenge the ILAP from a 2nd line risk perspective. The Head of Financial Risk will also have oversight of all prudential regulatory submissions from a 2nd line risk perspective.

There is a 3 year plan to build a team around the Head of Financial Risk that will encompass all of the regulatory aspects, model validation, IFRS9 implementation, Liquidity Risk Management, Pillar III reporting and the financial / prudential risk framework.

The Head of Financial Risk will act as Deputy CRO and will form part of the succession planning process.

This is a challenging role that requires a range of skills, both technical and interpersonal, as the successful candidate will participate in board meetings, engage with the broader business and key stakeholders as well as facing off to the regulator for any prudential or financial risk issues.

My client is willing to look at candidates from a 1st Line Treasury background or a 2nd Line Risk function provided they are able to demonstrate a deep technical understanding of the key components of the role: ICAAP, RRP, ILAP, Prudential Regulatory Reporting, Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk and can combine all of this with excellent communication skills and first rate stakeholder engagement.
