We are accepting Apprenticeship applications for 2021 now!
Grow with Greencore
We work hard to ensure that Greencore is a great place to work and our people truly are at the core. Were committed to ensuring all our colleagues have development plans and strive to provide inspiring leadership – in fact, in the past year weve seen an 11% increase in the number of colleagues who would recommend Greencore as a place to work. Join us and be part of our great team, committed to making every day taste better.
Were always looking for passionate and talented people who can help us drive our future success. As a degree apprentice, you will earn a competitive salary whilst undertaking a CMI Chartered Management degree or Food Industry Technical Professional degree in partnership with Nottingham Trent University. You will also gain valuable experience in a variety of roles, giving you the opportunity to be an integral part of our management team upon completion
More about our HR Apprenticeships
In the first year of the HR pathway, you will be based in our HR shared services team in Manton Wood or Selby, before moving into one of our sites to gain experience in the day to day operations of site-based HR. This pathway may be extended to include a CIPD Level-7 qualification following completion of the Chartered Management Degree Apprenticeship.
To apply for this pathway mobility is required as you may be placed at any of our sites across England.
A pre-requisite for joining our degree apprenticeship programme is for you to hold GCSE (or equivalent) grades A-C in English and maths. If you dont have these certificates or you gained formal education abroad, you will need to complete an assessment later in the process.
You will also need to have the right to work in the UK.
In your application please provide details about your previous qualifications and experience. If you are a college leaver, we will require a minimum of 120 UCAS points (attained or predicted).
What will happen when you apply?
Online application and strengths assessment
You will complete an online application form, for which you should expect the following sections: Personal details, education, work experience, programme preference, and diversity & inclusion data. Some questions within this section will determine whether you move onto the next stage, i.e. whether you meet the minimum eligibility criteria.
Once this part is complete, youll complete a strengths assessment. This is all online, you dont need anything other than yourself to complete it. Youll get plenty of instructions to guide you through it – and its not timed, so you can go at your own pace.
If you dont make it through this round, you will receive a feedback report on your strengths assessment which will be useful, we hope, for your own ongoing development.
If youre successful in the online stage, youll be invited to a telephone interview. This will be conducted by our partners Cappfinity Ltd, who are experts in strengths assessment, and they will take you through 8 questions.
Like the online assessment, this is all about your strengths, so there isnt a lot of preparation to do. Most importantly – try to relax and be yourself!
Our Assessment Centres take place virtually. You will be sent a link and a guide on what to expect for the day. A team of assessors will guide you through a number of tasks that will help us understand your fit with the programme and The Greencore Way.
You will be fully briefed on your preparation for the Assessment Centre by the Cappfinity team.
The Assessment Centres will be scheduled from January 2021.
Site / Team Visit
After Assessment Centres, we often find it makes sense for high-potential candidates to visit the site where we would place them. Sometimes this is about seeing the site, the environment and the operations that happen there. Sometimes its about meeting the team. But it is always about making sure that you can see exactly where youd be: this has to be as right for you as it is for us.
If this all goes well, we will make you an offer subject to your successful enrolment on the degree apprenticeship with Nottingham Trent University
University Enrolment & Interview
By this stage, we will know that youre right for us. The next step is to confirm that youre a good candidate for the degree.
This step will involve you completing Nottingham Trent Universitys application form.
You will then meet the Course Leader for an interview based on the assignment. This can be face to face on campus in Nottingham, or by telephone or Skype. Well work out the best option when the time comes.
Once youre accepted onto the programme, we will issue your formal written offer, terms and conditions of employment with Greencore.
September 2021 – join the team!
In the time before you start, well keep in touch and make sure you get the opportunity to meet up with your line manager and if possible your team. Well also send you snippets of information that we think will be useful for you.
And after what we hope will be fantastic summer, youll join the team!
Your induction period will start with the launch event, where you will meet your fellow apprentices and people from Nottingham Trent University.
