Job Description: Market Pricing Specialist

Location: Chester HQ, One City Place

Reporting to: Market Pricing Manager

Sykes Cottages are now seeking our latest Market Pricing Specialist to join our Revenue Management team at our Chester head office. Joining our wider Market Pricing team, the role of Market Pricing Specialist will be an analytical, results-oriented individual who also has excellent grasp of data analysis and the ability to interpret this effectively when dealing with mass volume (c.14K properties and c.10K+ Owners).

Our Market Pricing Team is responsible for two critical functions 1) Pricing strategy and execution ensuring we are competitive, profitable, and maintaining customer trust in pricing across our portfolio of properties. 2) Taking owner queries on pricing and advising them on optimal price points both reactively and proactively. Working closely with our commercial property recruitment, marketing and revenue management teams to optimise pricing for all holiday durations.

As our newest addition, you will have the following key skills:
Essential to have:
– Good numeracy and data interpretation skills
– Understanding of factors affecting price levels
– Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
– Proven negotiator in difficult situations
– Strong Commercial awareness (ideally within the holiday lettings or travel and tourism industry)
– Understanding of browser based IT systems
– Strong Experience of using MS Office suite (Excel etc)
– Pricing background
– Data analysis and data interrogation experience with mass volumes of data
– Customer Experience Skills

Nice to have:
– Understanding of demand elasticity and revenue management
– Experience of contract and commercial terms negotiation
– Ability to effectively communicate with other teams to influence change
– Experience of working within the travel and tourism industry and/or property sectors (e.g. estate agency or residential lettings)
– Experienced SQL user

As our newest Market Pricing Specialist you will be joining our team for a 9 month fixed-term contract. You will be responsible for the following areas of accountability:
– Taking reactive calls from owners to discuss property pricing and give data led advice
– Developing a thorough understanding of Revenue Management processes, initiatives and decisions and using this information to provide expert advice to owners
– Promoting revenue management initiatives such as Super Income Maximisation & Daily Pricing to owners by selling the benefits. This requires a detailed understanding of the various options and commercial terms in order to maximise income and revenue for both owners and Sykes.
– Working with the Revenue Management team to create owner friendly compelling evidence to support the promotion of income and short break options.
– Reporting weekly on Owner revenue and booking performance for both internal team and retention team use, with extensive analysis on key owner weeks such as Super Peak, looking at key metrics such as RevPAW, revenue per property & owner, comparing with prior years and Revenue Management peer groups.
– Driving up owner revenue by leading projects to identify areas of opportunity then working with selected owners to improve their revenue and booking performance. Projects will cover areas such as:
– Analysing the top 5% and bottom 5% of performers in the portfolio and advising owners on best ways to optimise revenue
– Mitigating the risk of bookings cannibalization and associated churn of properties in regions with new acquisitions
– Working closely with the Owner Performance team to formulate robust collaborative actions to reduce risk of owner churn

Your daily responsibilities will be the following:
– Daily calls from owners to discuss pricing where key commercial acumen is demonstrated as well as excellent customer experience. Speaking to owners regarding their future pricing by analysing past performance against similar properties (within Revenue Management grouping).
– Proactive calls to owners to discuss Revenue Management & short break options. Targeted on income maximisation upgrades and daily pricing sign ups.
– Leading projects to drive up owner revenue with tracking and reporting in place
– Weekly reporting on owner revenue & booking performance for departure weeks and regions
