We’re looking for an actuarial student or nearly qualified actuary to join our Life Actuarial Valuations team based in London as a Valuation Analyst/Actuary. The team’s primary focus is to add value to the decision making within VitalityLife through the analysis of actuarial experience, trends, profitability drivers and capital requirements. They also interact closely with other companies within the group and its parent company, Discovery.

Understanding and knowledge of the group’s strategy and objectives are critical to ensure alignment of VitalityLife’s strategy to the wider group. The team is also responsible for understanding and communicating the impact of shared value insurance for VitalityLife.

Our Life Actuarial Valuations team’s work is Valuation production, reporting and analysis focussed. The team is also the custodian of the life Prophet valuation model, as well as being responsible for monthly experience reporting and monitoring. They work closely with our Reviews Actuaries (2nd line), providing high-quality financial output and a frontline check on results from our actuarial model, PROPHET and Data/Reporting tools.

Skills and experience of our ideal Valuation Analyst/Actuary:

– Part qualified actuary with demonstrable industry experience

– Actuarial Data Control Management

– Valuation process and controls knowledge

– Confidence with both written and verbal communication at all levels

– Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret a broad range of data and complex financial calculations

– Strong IT skills and comfortable working on multiple software packages

– Someone who can work well under pressure and within a dynamic and changing environment

– Experience in Life Insurance (desirable)
