Course Units

The course consists of two elements:

Bookkeeping transactions

  • Double-entry bookkeeping skills
  • Purpose of business documents
  • Applying discounts and VAT
  • Processing customer and supplier transactions
  • Processing receipts and payments
  • Using a cashbook and petty cashbook
  • Extracting a trial balance

Bookkeeping controls

  • Using controls in a bookkeeping system
  • Using and reconciling control accounts
  • Using the journal and suspense account
  • Correcting errors in the system
  • Reconciling the bank

Additional Fees

Assessment fees are approximately £70-80 per assessment depending on the assessment centre.

The AAT require all students to join as a student member but we cover that cost, saving you £49! Just be sure to register as a student member within 14 days of your course start date, which will enable you to access additional content and sit your assessment.

How is it assessed?

To achieve this qualification, students are required to pass two computer-based assessments. We will help you pass your assessments by offering progressive tests that run throughout the course, along with the model answers for self-assessment. We provide you access to the AAT Lifelong Learning Portal which is included in your AAT subscription.
